First, I've received some materials from the Census Bureau about hiring for temporary workers - some 8 ? x 11 posters, some brochures, and business cards, all with the hiring number and website on them. If you'd like me to send you some to put around/distribute, please let me know, and I'll send them along. Second, I have a potential date for a webinar on the American Community Survey (ACS). This webinar will focus on the ACS, which is taking the place of the long form from the decennial census. This is where all of the interesting social, economic, and housing data will come from. The Census Bureau has recently released the first 3-year estimates of data for geographies with population between 20,000 and 65,000. March is a busy month for the Census folks, but they've agreed to run a webinar for us. The date is Wednesday, March 18. We're still working out the details, but I would imagine it would either be a morning- or afternoon-length session. Please let me know if: 1) You're able to participate (and if so, what time of day is best), 2) You're unable to participate on that day, but would be interested in a session on a different date, or 3) You're not interested in participating in a webinar on ACS, but would like a webinar on a different topic. Third, I've received the annual report form for the State Data Center - the final report is due by May 15, which means I'll need your information by April 15. I've attached a sample of the 2008 report form; filling it out and emailing it back to me would probably be easiest, but if you'd like to give me information some other way, I'll take it.
