From Amanda.K.Rector at maine.gov Tue Jun 16 08:25:48 2009 From: Amanda.K.Rector at maine.gov (Rector, Amanda K.) Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2009 08:25:48 -0400 Subject: [census_sdc] Two SDC updates Message-ID: <77E84D0166792840881A947EFE29B89A02A70166@SOM-TEAQASMAIL2.som.w2k.state.me.us> Good morning, all, I hope everyone is well. I have a couple of updates to share. First, in lieu of an American Community Survey webinar (which turned out to be too challenging to schedule at this time), I wanted to share with everyone the presentations on the ACS that the Census Bureau has made available. These are essentially the same material that would have been covered in a webinar, and this will allow everyone who is interested to go through them at their own pace. Then, if there are particular areas of interest, we can try to schedule a webinar at a future date. The presentations are available at: http://www.census.gov/acs/www/UseData/Compass/presentations.html. Second, the Census Bureau is currently hiring managers for the two additional Local Census Offices that will be opened in Maine. These offices will be in Bangor and Gardiner, and there will be one Local Census Office Manager and several (five, I believe) assistant managers. If you know anyone who would be a good candidate, the best way to get more information (and apply) is through the USA Jobs website: www.usajobs.gov . On the main page, you can search for the keyword "census" and either "Bangor" or "Gardiner" for the location. Also, we're working on adding a Census 2010 page to the State Planning website. I'll let you all know once it's up and running. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. And enjoy the next few days of beautiful June weather! Amanda Amanda K.
