WHOOOoo OoOooooOOoo! The February 12th Arts Ed Newsletter #27 is
available for your reading enjoyment. I am really pleased with the
way it looks and I hope you find the varied information helpful! I
am sorry for the delay but the new format is taking much longer to
create and to post to the web. Thank goodness for yesterday's snow
storm which kept me next to the computer plugging away. And thanks
to those that send me links, articles, and other information to include!

Just a couple of items that are not in the newsletter...
I hope you've had a chance to attend an MDOE forum where information
is being presented on the changes needed for Chapter 125: Basic
Approval Standards: Public Schools and School Administrative Units
and Chapter 127: Instructional Program, Assessment and Diploma
Requirements. If you are unable to attend a forum PLEASE go tohttp://
www.maine.gov/education/21stcentury/index.html, watch the 35 minute
video of Commissioner Gendron and fill out the feedback form. This
is your opportunity to give suggestions and ideas. The deadline for
feedback has been extended to March 3rd!

Registration for Arts, Innovation and Creativity Institute April 6
and 7th will be available in the next few days at: http://
www.mainelearns.org/

IMPORTANT TIMELY INFORMATION: ACT NOW!
Three easy-going fine arts teachers (all women working in Belfast and
Brunswick) are planning to attend the National Art Education
Association conference held this year in New Orleans. We have
reserved a quad for Tuesday 3/25/08 (3 pm) through Sunday 3/30/08
(noon) at the convention site: Hilton New Orleans Riverside. We are
looking for a fourth person to lower our costs. The total cost for
the hotel stay, including taxes is: $1478.35. Split four ways, your
share would be: $369.59. If interested, please contact Heidi
O'Donnell at hodonnell at sad34.net as soon as possible. We are
currently looking into flight costs. Reminder that the earlybird
registration ends February 15, 2008!
