Just wanted you to know of events happening in the next few days. I
know there are other events happening as well in the next couple of
weeks in districts across Maine. Good luck arts educators planning
Upcoming Arts Education Events:
MAINE DRAMA FESTIVAL
The 78th annual Maine Drama Festival gets under way Friday night and
continues Saturday (March 7,8) in nine locations across the state. If
you’ve never attended the 35 min. one-act performances I urge you to
attend, it is a special treat. Please go to http://www.fivetowns.net/
for schedules and locations to see Maine’s high school students on
YOUTH ART MONTH OPENINGS
Portland Museum of Art, March 8th, 5:00. Join students, parents and
teachers in recognizing young artists, K-12 from all over Maine.
Student exhibit remains throughout March.
Maine Education Office, Sunday, March 9th, 1:00. An outstanding
exhibit which will remain for several months.
Both exhibits sponsored by Maine Art Education Association
ARTS EDUCATION ADVOCACY DAY
State House, Hall of Flags, Monday, March 10th, 10-1. Join Maine
Alliance for Arts Education in celebrating arts education.
Recognition of arts advocates by Governor Baldacci and Maine Arts
Commissioner Director, Donna McNeil.
POETRY OUT LOUD
Support Maine's Poetry Out Loud Finalists as they Compete this Weekend
The state final takes place, 2 - 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8,
2008, at Schaeffer Theatre - Bates College, 305 College Street,
Lewiston. This contest is free to attend and open to all those wishing
to witness the undoubted talents of Maine's high school students.
This program is presented by the Maine Arts Commission, The National
Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Poetry Foundation. For more
