November - the month filled with reasons to be thankful! I am
grateful to all of you for the work you do with Maine students every
day.
** Link to the arts education newsletter #47 http://www.maine.gov/education/lres/vpa/newsletter/artsed47.pdf
And a few items that did not make the newsletter....
** A unique opportunity for publishing student art work is being
offered by the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI). There
will be more details in future newsletters but here is a brief
description to help you get started. MLTI is currently accepting
student artwork that will be featured as the default screen saver on
the MLTI 2009 image. Submitted student photographs may feature a
variety of artistic media created by students PreK-12.
Students work entered for consideration are required to be of
landscape orientation (1152x870 pixels) and cannot contain people.
Teachers are invited to submit student artwork to
steve.vose at maine.gov. If you have questions please call Steve at
624-6777. The submission of artwork is due 5:00 on January 16, 2009.
Students who have their work selected will be recognized and
celebrated for their accomplishments at an event to be scheduled later.
** Curt Roberts, Music Vice President for the Nor'Easters, a men's
barbershop chorus based in Bath has this request. Recently they
performed a benefit show in Brunswick for Habitat for Humanity. The
Mt. Blue Voices appeared on the show and were extremely-well received
by the audience. Consequently, Curt has been asked to include high
school a cappella groups in future shows (about four each year). Curt
would like to know which schools have a cappella groups and if any are
interested. He is eager to support and promote school groups. Please
contact Curt directly if you are interested in learning more. jhrjcr at aol.com
** Just a reminder: During November 24 though December 3 I will be
away from the office spending some much needed time with my family.
Therefore, I will not be answering email or returning phone messages.
My best wishes for a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to each of you!
Make it a GREAT turkey day,
Argy
