For those of you who love the heat and humidity I am sure it put a smile on your face. Me? Wow, I am glad the heat wave is over and now I am looking for some rain to help the gardens during this last week in July!

You might notice that it has been only a few days since my last email to the list-serv .... there are two reasons...

Next week I will be in the middle of the Arts Assessment Initiative Institute. The planning committee for the institute have been very committed during the last few months. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Rob Westerberg, Catherine Ring, Bronwyn Sale, Shalimar Poulin, Jeff Beaudry, and Carol Trimble who have been unbelievable. Next week we will be busy with 16 arts teacher leaders at Maine College of Art (MECA) in Portland. They have been communicating electronically during the last 2 months and will have a chance to meet and learn from each other (face to face) for four days. I am looking forward to it. The assessment wiki at http://maineartsassessment.pbworks.com has the overview of the initiative.

The other reason I am writing this week is to let you know that your HELP is needed. Today's blog post called "PLEASE Help" is an open letter from Randy Judkins. I hope you will find it in your heart to offer a small (or large) amount to help VSA Maine. Randy provides the information in his letter. This email goes to over 1100 educators. If each of us gave a few dollars it would make a huge impact.

* PLEASE Help - an appeal from Randy Judkins
* Touch Wood - amazing YouTube
* Integrating the Arts Across the Curriculum Webinar - access to webinar held last week
* Curran and Moore-Young Travel to DC - Nancy and Sam advocating
* Messalonskee High School Concert - free concert

Make it a great last week in July,
