I know that some of you (in Aroostook county) have started back to school, some of you are spending time in your classrooms getting ready, and some are waiting until the first workshop day to return. At whatever point in your transition I trust that you are doing what is in the best interest of students and arts education! I certainly appreciate the work it takes to launch into a new school year!
It has been a very busy August for me which has come as a surprise. All kinds of "great stuff" is happening in arts education. I am planning to take a few days off and get away from technology the end of next week. If you email me I may not answer your email until the first week in September. Below are the blog posts since the last email. Please be sure and read the post called Changes! since this information has the potential to impact all educators.
The posts are located at http://meartsed.wordpress.com/.
* Americans Who Tell the Truth - Robert Shetterly
* Olympic Gold Medal - British Designer created the medal
* Changes! - Teacher Effectiveness and High School proficiency laws
* Quilts in the Snow - created with snow shoes
* Marvin Hamlisch - the world has lost a great one!
* What Happens After Teacher Leaders Meet? - Voices of teachers in DC
Enjoy the last of summer fun, sun, and relaxation!
Make it a great day,
