How wonderful to have an hour more of daylight at the end of the day! With the days getting longer, I hope you can find a few minutes at the end (or the beginning) of the school day to go outside and enjoy the light.

Your feedback is important...
March is a crazy busy month for arts educators celebrating Music in Our Schools Month, Youth Art Month, and Theatre in Our Schools Month. I hope you will, if you haven't already, take a few minutes out of your day to respond to the Survey Monkey on the first phase of the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative. We need your feedback in order to determine what is best for the second phase. Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/maai1 and answer the few questions. The survey will be available until Monday, March 19th at 6:00PM. For those of you who have completed the survey already,

Below are the last weeks blog posts that you can find at http://meartsed.wordpress.com/. The two in red are related to the assessment initiative. Thank you to those who have sent images, ideas, and topics for the blog. If you have stories to share, please email me at argy.nestor at maine.gov so I can consider them for inclusion in the Maine arts education blog.

I am sending this email from Aroostook county this morning where I spent yesterday visiting music teacher Pam Kinsey at Easton High School. I sat in on her practice with the jazz chorus who are getting ready for Thursday's competition. They were outstanding and clearly rehearsal. Thanks to the students and Pam! From Easton High School we traveled to the Aroostook Centre Mall where we met the surrounding art teachers for a spectacular art exhibit including 346 pieces of art from 12 towns. It is great to see the collaborative spirit that exists among the teachers. Thanks for the great show! In between Pam took me to the Science Center where the trails are beautiful and we went for a short snow shoe walk. Yes, there is still enough snow and I was glad, since it is the first time this winter I've been snow shoeing! The temperature was about 50 and the sun was shining brightly! Thank you Pam!

Thank you all for the great work you are doing celebrating arts education month with your students!

Make it a great Arts Education Month,
