I hope Frankenstorm isn't impacting your daily routine drastically and that you are making it through safely. I am without power at home but I know that inconvenience is minor compared to what others are going through. My thoughts are with those who are struggling!

Below are the most recent blog posts located at http://meartsed.wordpress.com/. Thanks to those who have sent information recently. The "student opps", "prof dev opps", and "upcoming events" have many new items listed. They are located on the front page of the blog, bottom right side.

  * MAAI workshops - regional workshops taking place during the next 8 months
  * Maine Association for Middle Level - the arts were well represented
  * Community Supporting Agriculture/Arts - Unique idea from Harlow Gallery
  * MAAE - reception in Hallowell
  * MMEA Conference - over 70 music teachers attend
  *   Sesame Street - STEM+A - Elmo the musical

Jo-Martyn Fisher at jmmfisher at lisbonschoolsme.org<mailto:jmmfisher at lisbonschoolsme.org> is a Lisbon elementary art teacher and is searching for other elementary art teachers who are using the iPad as an instructional tool in the art room. Please email her if you are!

Standards-based report cards
Still looking for examples of "standard-based' report cards. I had a request for samples so If you can send yours, please do. Thanks!

Student Stories
I have heard from a handful of arts teachers who have students or former students who have stories to tell. Meartsed blog will have a series of student stories that illustrate how the arts impact lives. There is a set of questions for students in school and another for graduates - these might be students that the arts are a pathway they've chosen or another pathway yet the arts still influence them in some way. If you have a student whose story should be told, please contact me at argy.nestor at maine.gov<mailto:argy.nestor at maine.gov> and I would be glad to email you the information to pass on to your student(s). Thanks!

As we finish October with wild and wooly weather, please be safe and know how much I appreciate what you are doing for students and arts education!

Make it a great day,
