I know that change is in the air for those you who have headed back to school or are doing so during this and next week. Change is happening for me as well. My last day at the Maine Department of Education, as the Visual and Performing Arts Specialist, is on Tuesday, September 3. It has been such a pleasure working in this position during the last 7 years. WOW, has it flown by!!!
My work in Arts education will continue as I travel for "another view of the State House dome", across the street to the Maine Arts Commission (MAC). MAC is a state agency where I will serve as the Arts Education Director. The good news is that my email address will remain the same and this Arts education list-serv will continue. The Department of Education is committed to filling my position, as I learn more I will certainly keep you informed.
As you begin your new school year, I wish you much success! I am soooooo proud of the Arts education programs across the state and the work that each of you do providing quality opportunities for Maine students. As I clean out "my cubby with the view of the State House dome", I am reliving my experiences and sweet memories from my visits to 400 Arts classrooms in 50 school districts, meeting teaches and speaking with students. I have a very clear picture of how fortunate I am and Maine kids are because of the important work you do! THANK YOU!
