So wonderful to have it snowing on the blog and outside my window yesterday! The holiday decorations always look a bit sweeter adorned with snow.

I know that many of you have been wondering... I understand that the Maine Department of Education will be interviewing candidates for the Arts education position before the holiday break. YAY!

Looking for teaching artists
If you are a teaching artist please email me at argy.nestor at maine.gov<mailto:argy.nestor at maine.gov> about the work you are doing in schools. I'd love to hear from you!

meartsed blog
Below are the most recent blog posts that you can find at http://meartsed.wordpress.com/. On Friday I was reminded about why I do this work when I had a chance to attend the Northeast Educational Theatre Festival. Read about it in today's blog post. A GREAT BIG THANKS to those who have sent me information to post.

  * Theatre Festival - Northeast with 200 students last week at USM
  * Congratulations Dennie Palmer Wolf - 2013 recipient of the Naional Guild Service Award
  * New England Institute for Teacher Education - courses in the arts offered
  * The Power of the Theatre - stories and links to share!
  * Assessing the Arts - professional development by education closet
  * MEA logo - looking for a new design - might you be the artist they are seeking?
  * Music Sharpens the Brain Pathways - music may help cognitive development

I know music teachers are very busy this time of year with holiday concerts. Along with the main reason of providing the opportunity for students to exhibit their skills and passion for music I hope that you also take the chance to communicate to those attending know how essential music education is to the overall development of children. Look for posts this week coming up on the topic.

Above all, have fun and THANK YOU for the important work you do each day providing quality arts education programs for all students!

Make it a great day,
