Good morning,
What a weekend to be outside in Maine! It was beautiful in the mid-coast and from what I hear on the radio it was pretty nice everywhere else in Maine as well! And, it looks like it will continue today. This is a SPECIAL list-serv email today primarily to update you on the list-serv, please expect the regular one tomorrow as well!!

REMINDER
First of all, today is the deadline for visual and performing arts teachers to apply to be teacher leaders for the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative. The application is located at http://mainearts.maine.gov/Pages/Education/MAAI#.

NEW LIST-SERV
As many of you know in 2006 I established the DOE-arts ed list-serv with just under 350 arts educators email addresses. Each week during the (about) past 7 years I have sent an email to the list-serv which has grown to just under 1200 email addresses. For the most part this has happened one email address at a time (beyond the original 350). Thank you for requesting to be part of this community and to all of you loyal list-servers!!!

Last September I moved to the Maine Arts Commission and continued communicating with you through the same list-serv. As announced in a recent blog post, the Maine Department of Education has filled the position of Visual and Performing Arts Specialist with Kevin Facer<http://meartsed.wordpress.com/2014/05/18/introducing-kevin/>. In the near future Kevin will be using the DOE-arts list-serv.

The good news is that I will continue to communicate in the same fashion that I have through a newly established list-serv called MAC-Arts Ed which includes your email address. When you receive your first email (some time in the next few days) from the MAC-arts ed list-serv it will be a “Welcome" email. You will NOT need to respond or do anything with that email - it is just a “ Welcome" email to let you know that you are part of the newly established MAC-Arts Ed List-serv. If you’d like to unsubscribe you can do that at any time by emailing me at argy.nestor at maine.gov<mailto:argy.nestor at maine.gov>. Your second email from the MAC-Arts Ed list-serv will look similar to the emails that you receive from me each (mostly) Tuesday morning.

I trust that the transition will be simple and that you will not notice much difference other than the return address will change slightly! The Maine Arts Education blog http://meartsed.wordpress.com/ will continue as it has during the last 5 years with a posting almost everyday. Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing me at argy.nestor at maine.gov<mailto:argy.nestor at maine.gov>.

Thank you for the important work you do each day providing quality arts education programs for students of all ages and Happy June! I am a bit jealous since I ALWAYS loved the last month of school when I was in my middle school art room. Very creative days, for sure!!

Your “Welcome" email will look something like what is below. Remember: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL, it is just informational. If for some reason in the next week you do not receive an email (that looks something like below), please email me. Thanks for your help!
