The Maine Alliance for Arts Education has launched the MAAE Student Arts Collaborative, a Facebook group page where Maine high school students involved in any of the arts can share their work, their thoughts and their questions with each other, with college arts students and with Maine post-grads pursuing careers in the arts. What's most notable is that the STEAM (STEM plus Arts) movement is not only taking hold in pockets throughout the United states, but widely across the country and even internationally.

New article on NCAS standards - Schools nationwide have standards for arts education, but how they are implemented varies, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics. Three states -- Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska -- have adopted or are considering adopting new National Core Arts Standards, which focus on dance, drama, music and visual arts. Music Institute - For three-weeks at The University of the Arts<http://redir.targetx.com/cgi-bin/email/redir.cgi?id=0001237182-157224630> this summer, your students can perform, study, and collaborate with unrivaled musicians to earn three college credits. Students will improve their technique by studying different musical styles, improvisation, theory, ear training, and perform. The Summer Institute Music program begins July 13, 2015.
