CALL TO PARTICIPATE:
Maine Arts Education Resource Project – Integration: The Maine Department of Education is launching a new initiative and would like you to be a part of it! Participants will work to create arts integration lesson plans to be submitted on the Maine Arts Resource Bank. Maine Arts Teachers Selected to Pilot Model Cornerstone Assessments: The content areas are beginning to select their participants. I will be celebrating them here as I learn of them. If you have been selected, please let me know! Congratulations to Jeff Orth of Richmond High School for being selected to pilot the Model Corner Stone Assessments in visual art.

OPPORTUNITIES:
Performance Assessment Resource Bank: Thanks to Maine’s involvement in the Innovation Lab Network, this is a free online resource for Maine educators! This new web resource provides performance assessments and the resources that support their use by educators, schools, and systems. Best Communities for Music Education: School districts and schools across the country have the opportunity to receive national recognition for their commitment to providing students with access to comprehensive music education. NAMM Foundation’s 2016 Best Communities for Music Education (district) and SupportMusic Merit Award (individual school) surveys are now open. Music teachers and school administrators are invited to complete the 2016 survey between now until Saturday, January 30, 2016. Calling All Teaching Artists: The Maine Arts Commission is now accepting applications for the PK-12 Teaching Artists Roster. Click here<https://mainearts.maine.gov/Pages/Education/Teaching-Artists> for the application and to find out more.

Leonard and Renee Minsky Fund for Arts Education (Penobscot and Washington counties): The Leonard and Renee Minsky Fund for Arts Education supports artists in residence to work with teachers to bring arts into the classrooms of grades three through five in the public schools of Penobscot and Washington Counties. Application deadline is December 15th, 2015. Scholarships Available for Performing Arts Majors at UMaine: The University of Maine School of Performing Arts is offering merit scholarships to those who study any of the performing arts (music, drama, dance) at UMaine. The scholarships are $3000 a year for up to four years, and may be given to transfer students for up to three years. Deadline to apply is December 15th, 2015.
