Maine Young Playwrights' Festival: This annual celebration of student-written plays offers an opportunity for your students to see their words jump off of the page and be seen and heard for the first time. This year's Maine Young Playwrights Festival will be held from 10:00am to 4:30pm on June 3rd and features workshops and presentations of new plays written by high school student playwrights. We want to see as many student scripts showcased in one day as we can! The format is wide open to allow schools to bring plays in any length up to 40 minutes, and in any presentational style from a simple reading to a staged reading to a fully-staged production and anywhere in between. Are you staging a student-written play for MPA One Acts? - Think about remounting it at MYPF to give your student playwright/s the chance to receive professional feedback on their writing that they aren't allowed to get from MPA judges. Or, encourage one or more of your students to write a new, original short play for submission - there's lots of time to create something new before June! Saturday, June 3rd, at Portland Stage.
