I would like to hear from adult ed programs regarding absenteeism - how many hours do you allow in
150 hour program?

In Auburn, we structure our classes for about 174 hours--this allows for
some missed time.  They of course have to meet the levels required and
have to be careful they meet the minimum.

Hi,
Here at Penobscot Job Corp we go above and beyond the required hours to allow for an occasional absence. We do not tell the students this, obviously and we always, always stress the importance of attending all class and clinical hours. Not only do we teach CNA, we teach employability skills.

Biddeford Adult Ed also builds in extra hours.  We do have a clinical make-up day for anyone that misses clinical as well as a classroom 'skills' make up day if necessary (We do not tell them this up front!!)  I also have them make up time, if class time, by going to the local library, having the librarian sign it, confirming they were there & have them do a project or some type of presentation on a disease, procedure, etc.  Probably childish, but it seems to work.  If they miss 3 days...they are out!!!  But they do need to make up any hours missed one way or another.

PVAEC's C.N.A. program is 200 hours.  We allow 2 missed classes (with
valid reasons)  but NO missed clinicals.
