Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

I am assuming that the current questions about selection of students applies
to Adult Ed programs. Although there are some secondary programs that have
so many students that they can "select" their students.

Marion, I am sure there are a number of instructors who have had similar
experiences around students in substance abuse treatment. However, I would
consult Elaine if there is any question of the student's appropriateness for
the program.

I have a question and I would appreciate hearing from any of you. I use the
"Nursing Assistant Nursing Process Approach". The price of the books is
going up. What we have done here is subsidize part of the cost of the book
so that students can purchase their own book. It helps in several areas.
First the paper bound books are falling apart by the end of a year and
second I don't have to worry about being stuck with old editions when they
come out with a new one. As some of you know this is my last year. I have
study guides, tests, handouts etc that I have developed for the text. I
really want to order the 10th edition for next year so that the new
instructor will have lots of materials to start out, but I am also
interested in what you are using and how you pay for it. The cost of the
books will continue to increase and the budgets are obviously going to be
tight. So .. what do you use and how much does it cost? Does anyone else
subsidize their students' purchase? Let me know and thanks!

Look in the near future for a message about our tech update which will be in
April. We have exciting prospects for our summer workshop! Anyone interested
in spending a couple days at Schoodic Point?????? We will do the planning at
the tech update.

Hope you are all warm and well! Patty Sheehan
