MeANS' Threshold program has openings now for the fall! We are Mid-Maine's only home-based high school program working to re-engage high school students in their education.
Thanks to many of you for referring students to MeANS' Threshold Program in the past. As a quick reminder we work with students who are not thriving in the traditional classroom, and are not getting to school on a regular basis. They could be teen parenting, have social anxiety, or have sufficient chaos at home that getting to school regularly is not possible.

We now have 7 teachers, and room for 80 students and will be continuing to enroll students until we meet our maximum. These young high schoolers must be able to work independently in between their weekly meetings with their teacher/advisor who will work with them at home (in non-covid times), outside, or in a large enough public space to be Covid safe, and if necessary, remotely. Threshold offers the opportunity for daily student-teacher contact through the internet, and monthly Mondays at MeANS for bigger group gatherings to focus on a particular area of study. Costs for a computer and wireless, if needed, are covered by the program.

Students and their families can apply directly through the website by filling out the Intent to Enroll Form<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fairtable.com%2FshrSLC57iUujqSRhw&data=04%7C01%7CAmelia.Lyons%40maine.gov%7Ca1ffc403a5e741500b6e08d94b9f2320%7C413fa8ab207d4b629bcdea1a8f2f864e%7C0%7C0%7C637623969134248986%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=vtUIRexKoKPY1b1eDtx6%2F13VKA%2BRErmKDl%2FQ5SJCNAM%3D&reserved=0> or by contacting Becky Dennison, our Dean of Threshold at Rdennison at meansacademy.org<mailto:lsandy at gwh.org>; or at 207-238-4131.

We are open to any student who lives or who can drive to within 60 minutes of our campus for our weekly student-teacher meetings.
The profile for our most successful students in the program include the following characteristics:
* Motivated to complete high school;
* Ability to do academic work independently with guidance from the teacher;
* Supportive family
* Consistent Living Situation
* Post high school goals
