[MinervaCats] October serials workshop

So many have expressed an interest in the serials workshop that I am offering it again on Tuesday October 30 in Maine State Library Studio from 9:30 - 2:15. Refreshments and a light lunch will be included.

Anyone taking this workshop needs be an experienced cataloger and should have completed a cataloging class on a college level or one of the basic cataloging classes offered by Minerva.

This workshop provides an in-depth coverage of all serial publications, both periodical and non-periodical and includes print, electronic and microform formats. There will opportunities for hands-on experience.

Workshop content:
Current Minerva/Solar standards for serial records
Recognizing good bib record for periodicals, annuals, etc.
Importing, combining and overlaying existing record
Dealing with frequent title and publisher changes in serials
Deciding when a new bib record is needed
Creating new or original records
Selecting appropriate subject headings and other access points.
