[MinervaCats] TIP: deleting item records

Good morning, Minervians,

We often get requests to fix "broken" item records that people are
unable to delete. The common problem is that the item's status is
"available" but when you try to delete it you get a message that the
item is checked out and needs to be checked in. So you scan it through
Check In but then get a message saying "item is not checked out, checkin
ignored." Huh??!!??

What's happened is that the item had an Inn Reach transaction that for
some unknown reason looks as if it worked properly, but something got
lost in cyberspace and the system thinks the item is still checked out
to the Inn Reach patron.

Before emailing info.support at msln.net, try changing the status in the
item record to "@" IR OFF SITE. (You can do this from either MilCirc or
MilCat). Scan the item through Check In. Now try to delete it.

If you still can't delete it after this process, email us and we'll send
it to the Help Desk.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions.

Deb
