If you are going to keep the accompanying book, it would make more sense
to recatalog it as a book. The record (with it's MAT TYPE code and 300
|a, etc.) is no longer appropriate for what you have left.

[MinervaCats] book & tape with missing cassettes quandary

Good afternoon-
At the cataloging meeting on Friday there was discussion about putting
“cassette missing” in the volume field of a book with cassette that is
missing the cassette. So the item, which now is actually only a book, is
listed as a sound recording with the cassette missing. That’s funny enough
all by itself, but since we won’t shelve it with the sound recordings
anymore, how will anyone find it? Please correct me if I’m wrong about
this because we have quite a number of items that will be affected by this
change.

We also mistakenly called books with cassettes “kits”, but that’s another
story for another day.

               -Debbie
