Please excuse the double posts-- I want to be sure that catalogers who are
not on Minerva-L get this information, too. I want to clarify Jon's
description of the process that seems to cause the problem of lost item
records.
To the best of our knowledge this has happened when *all* the item records
on one bib are transferred to another bib, *and *the cataloger chooses the
option "retain source bib". To prevent the potential loss of item records,
always choose the option to "delete source bib" under these circumstances.
Of course, if you are transferring only one or a selection of item records
to another bib, leaving other items intact, you will not be offered the
choices described above. The original source bib will be retained, and that
is the desired result.
Please contact me if you have any further questions about this problem.
Thank you, Jon, for pursuing this issue with III.
