[MinervaCats] System dropping holding?

Libraries that have an unscoped login for cataloging do have the ability
to delete item records that belong to other libraries. Libraries with a
scoped login would see a message saying something like "out of scope."
In the days of GUICat, every cataloging login was unscoped so everybody
had the ability to delete any item, whether they owned it or not. That
changed with Millennium cataloging, and we've tried to limit the number
of unscoped logins. If your cataloging login has a "u" before "cat",
e.g. libucat rather than just libcat, that is an unscoped login. If you
don't use a login with a "u" and want to verify if your login is scoped
or not, I can check for you.
If you have an unscoped login, please be very careful when transferring
item records from one bib record to another.
I don't know of any other reason that items would just disappear from
the database besides being mistakenly deleted.

Hi Susan--
Yes, this has happened to us regularly for years and years, but we've
never been able to find out why. We have a "problem box" at the circ
desk to catch these when they get returned...we estimate we get about 5
per week on average. It's disturbing.

[MinervaCats] System dropping holding?
I feel like I've lately had a number items show up at the circulation
desk to be checked out that are no longer in the system. Some of them
have barcodes from when we first became part of Minerva, so I know they
were in the catalog originally. When I scan the barcode, there is no
item record and when I search cataloging there is no sign that we ever
owned the item.
I've been told that you can't accidently delete someone else's holding
when records are merged, so I am at a lost as to how these are
disappearing. Anyone else notice this problem? Is there a solution?
