Hi Peggy,
Thanks for clearing up the tcn records. However, there's no need to remove
any fields beginning with 05* since they do not adversely affect the call
number display on the summary screen or item edit screen. As Valerie
Frechette stated, they do actually contain information that others find
useful.
What you need to look out for is mainly any field beginning with 09* (they
can be 090, 092, and 099). Any remote record with these should be edited,
removing the field. Also, another thing to watch for is the little single
letter code that is found at the far left before the Marc field itself. You
should never have a field with the code "c" since this tells the system that
the following field is a call number. I've seen 020 (ISBN) fields, 100
fields (author), and many others coded with "c", and the system
automatically thinks they are call numbers. It's very confusing, but if you
do find a "c", delete the field if it's an 09*, or correct the code if
necessary.
