Subject: Maine Apple Authorized Service Providers

Dear MLTI Schools,

Recently, one of the well-known Apple Authorized Service Providers
lost its certification to perform authorized repairs on Apple
Computers. The reasons were not made available to the DOE, but we
have been assured by members of that company that they are seeking
resolution to the issue.

In the meantime, we wanted to provide all MLTI schools with an up-to-
date list of Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) in Maine. For
all warranty and non-warranty repairs done to MLTI laptops, an AASP
must be used. For all warranty repairs, we continue to recommend that
all schools utilize the Local Repair Depot. Please note that non-
warranty repairs require an AASP. The only difference between and in-
warranty and non-warranty repair is who pays for the repair. In
either event, if service is provided by a non-Apple Authorized
Service Provider, the result will be that the Apple Extended Warranty
for that laptop is now null and void. This means that neither the
Local Repair Depot, nor any other AASP can not and will not repair
the laptop under warranty, even if the problem appears to be totally
unrelated to the non-warranty repair work.

The following is a list of AASP in Maine that are authorized to
perform laptop repairs. Not all AASPs are authorized to perform
laptop repairs. If your school is using a company not listed, please
ask them to clarify whether or not they are an AASP that is
authorized to perform laptop repairs. If they are, they should
contact their Applecare representative to make sure that they are
properly listed in Apple's registry of AASPs.
