Subject: [MLTI-HS] Dial Up Modems - Action Required [internal-from_ADV?]

Greetings everyone,

We are excited to begin working with your school this year. As you may
or may not be aware, the Apple MacBook computers do not include a
telephone modem. For some participants, this will mean that they require
an external modem unit to allow them to use a telephone dial up Internet
service account while at home. The Department will purchase dial up
modems for use by educators who require one for home Internet
connectivity. Please poll your faculty to determine the total number of
users who will require a dial up modem to be able to connect to the
Internet from home using a dial up account and report that total to us
online at:

http://www.maine.gov/mlti/educator

Submissions must be made no later than August 29, 5 pm, in order for the
Department to place the order and have the modems shipped to your school
in a time frame consistent with delivery of the MacBook computers. Do
not request modems "just in case". Only request modems for teachers who
have confirmed that they connect to the Internet from home using a
telephone dial up account. Submit data only once for your entire school.
If you need to modify your submission before the deadline, please
contact Laura Brown, laura.brown at maine.gov, (207) 624-6746.

If, at a later date, it is determined that another teacher needs a dial
up modem, requests can be made directly to the MLTI Project team by
contacting Laura Brown, laura.brown at maine.gov, (207) 624-6746. Requests
will be fulfilled as quickly as possible.

Note: Internet connectivity from home for any participant is the
responsibility of the participant. The Department does not provide
Internet connectivity.

Thank you,
MLTI Project Team
