Climate Change: Teaching Through Technology Workshop in Augusta Dec. 6

Climate change is one of the most talked-about topics in our society
today. But how do you teach about a topic so recent that it's not
covered well in most textbooks? And how can you bring the importance
of climate change alive for your students? See how you can use
technology and digital resources to do just that at this Dec. 6
workshop at the MMSA offices in Augusta.

This workshop for grade 7-12 teachers will delve into the science
behind climate change and provide hands-on experience with a variety
of Web sites and online tools that can help you engage your students.
Deb Avalone-King from the Maine Department of Environmental
Protection and Chad Dorsey from the Maine Mathematics and Science
Alliance will help you learn how to make pressing issues about
climate change understandable while involving your students with real
scientific data and vivid satellite imagery. This workshop will help
you learn how to use Google Earth with students, provide a ton of
great Web links, and give you exclusive "behind-the-scenes" access to
a comprehensive new Web site being developed to address issues
involving climate change and oceans.

No matter how you currently approach the topic of climate change,
you're certain to leave this workshop with fresh ideas you can easily
use with students. Learn more and register today at mmsa.org/events.
