TWENTY-EIGHTH STATE-WIDE MEETING OF HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS AND PHYSICAL
SCIENCE TEACHERS
Department of Physics and Astronomy
The University of Maine at Orono
Friday, March 14, 2008
8:30 AM – 4 PM
(registration begins at 8:00 AM, continental breakfast and lunch will
both be served)
Dear Teaching Colleague,
We are pleased to announce that this year’s Annual High School
Physics Teachers’ Meeting at the University of Maine will be held at
the UMaine campus in Orono on Friday, March 14, 2008. Please reserve
the date!
Our goal is to bring together Maine physics and physical science
teachers to discuss issues of teaching and learning, to share new
demonstrations and teaching ideas, to showcase ways to get involved
at the University, and to promote interactions between all involved
parties. We will have presentations, workshops, tours of campus, and
give-aways that include materials you can use in your classroom.
Bring your physics and physical science colleagues. We hope that
high school and middle school teachers, physics and physical science
teachers can attend!
We expect that, as in years past, we will be able to give 0.5~CEU
(continuing education units) for participation in this meeting. If
you wish to receive this 0.5~CEU you must: (a) attend the events of
the meeting (of course!) and (b) pick up your certification at the
end of the meeting. There is no advance paperwork on your part;
however, there is a $5.00 fee to have the credits registered.
We look forward to seeing you on March 14th. If you are interested
in participating in the meeting, are interested in presenting or in
facilitating a workshop, or want to suggest someone to do so, please
contact John Thompson (email John.Thompson at umit.maine.edu or call
207-581-1030).
More information will be sent in a letter closer to the actual
meeting time. See you soon!
