SUBJECT: Maine Learning Technology Initiative Opt-In

The Maine Learning Technology Initiative Agreement with Apple Computer,
Inc. is in the final stages of review. We recognize that we are much
later in the calendar year than we had hoped to be at this stage of the
new deployment. We appreciate your patience and attention to this
information and these required actions. In order for the Department and
Apple Computer, Inc. to prepare, deliver, and implement the next phase
of the program, it is imperative that the local coordination and State
coordination work be closely integrated to prepare for the Fall. Please
review the materials below and return the necessary forms and paperwork
by no later than July 7, 2006.

For all Public Grade 7 & 8 Schools, please download "MLTI Grade 7 & 8
Packet" at:

For MLTI Expansion at Local Cost: public grades K-6, 9-12, or all
non-public schools, please download "MLTI Expansion at Local Cost
Packet" at:  
http://www.maine.gov/mlti/deployment/

If your SAU has an outstanding balance with Apple Computer, Inc. from
the first MLTI program, you must address this with Apple Computer, Inc.
prior to July 7, 2006 to participate in this program for the next four
years.

The MLTI Project team at the Department of Education will be hosting
several one-hour conference calls for any questions around this process.
