On October 12, the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance will hold a
conference on Enhancing Student Learning in Science with Digital Resources
at the Sable Oaks Marriott in Portland. This conference will address the
selection and use of quality digital resources and tools in the middle and
high school science classroom.

The conference will showcase a number of exemplary digital resources and
tools for middle and high school. A keynote from Susan VanGundy of the
National Science Digital Library will open the conference followed by
breakout sessions with expert speakers.

As a part of the day, we invite teachers from grades 7-12 with innovative,
classroom-tested applications of technology or use of digital resource to
share them in short roundtable sessions. Each round table presentation will
last twenty minutes and be repeated twice within a one-hour period. A final
twenty minutes will be allotted for a walkabout review of all the round
table materials. Roundtables are held informally around a table for a small
number of participants.

Roundtable proposals for consideration should:
€ include a brief introduction
€ involve an interactive demonstration
€ allow for questions about the resource or tool, and
€ provide participants further ways to learn about the tool or resource

Examples of appropriate topics for roundtables include:
€ Sharing a new web-based tool and how you use it in the science
classroom
€ Demonstrating a new technique for science teaching involving software
teachers already have.
€ Demonstrating a software package useful for the science lab or
classroom
€ Showing a new tool, probe or piece of hardware and its use in the
classroom

Please complete the attached form to submit an application to be a round
table presenter. One presenters for each roundtable will be eligible for a
half-price conference attendance fee. Completed applications are due
Wednesday, September 20, and presenters will be notified by Friday,
September 29 of the acceptance of their roundtable.
