Tue Apr 10 10:20:29 EDT 2007
Since we¹ve been having some technical problems with our MaineLearns.org web
site, we wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to register for
our Spring Content meetings, using an alternate site. Go visit:
http://www.maine.gov/mlti/events/springcontent07/
You may register for one or both sessions.
Day 1 Literacy: Working with Digital Text, with Barbara Greenstone
In a 1-1 computing classroom, students are interacting more and more with
digital text. In this session, we will discuss and practice strategies for
reading and writing digitally and explore some of the tools available on the
laptops as well as web resources. Participants will be working in a
NoteShare notebook which they can adapt and personalize for their own
classroom use.
Day 2 Inquiry Learning in Math and Science, with Phil Brookhouse
The process of asking good questions and making predictions is a foundation
for deep and engaged learning. 1-1 computing gives the opportunity to
interact with data and do problem solving. This session will provide
experience with math applets and MyWorld as foundations for inquiry-based
learning.
