RE: Middle Level Leadership Team Professional Development Series
2008-2009

There's still time to provide your leadership team with the
opportunity to participate in this outstanding professional
development series. We hope you'll join your colleagues from across
the state!

Here are some answers to questions that may not have been addressed in
earlier information.

Q: Why is the October 22nd Leadership PD session at Sugarloaf?
A: This will bring leadership teams from all over Maine together and
use our grant funding to subsidize up to four Leadership Team PD
attendees from each school to register for the MAMLE Annual conference
at 1/2 price. Two for one or four for two!

Q: Why does this series consist of so many sessions?
A: Research and our 3 year CSR experience clearly indicates that "one
shot deals" do not work. This makes sense based on what we know about
teaching and learning. Effective learning and quality professional
development must be sustained over a period of time.

Q: It's not good for teachers to miss so many days of instructional
time with students. How can we address this issue?
A: Although there should be a constant core of the leadership team in
attendance, it is perfectly fine to rotate other members of the team
in to the sessions throughout the year. When doing this it will be
important that good communication is established between those in
attendance and those who are not.

Q: Our school is very small and the leadership team is fewer than the
required minimum. What can we do?
A: If your team is smaller than 4 people please contact Jill Spencer
at spencerj51 at yahoo.com and we'll figure out what can be done.

Q: If we just can't justify attending all nine sessions is that a deal
breaker?
A: If this is a major issue for your leadership team please contact
Chris Toy at christoy.net at gmail.com

We're looking forward to a great series!

Hope to see you in September.
