Dear Social Studies Teacher, please find two notices below that may be  
of interest to you:

     Join the Maine Social Studies Updates listserv

You are invited to subscribe to a new listserv for Social Studies  
Teachers.  Maine Social Studies Updates is a listserv designed to keep  
PK-12 Social Studies Teachers current on issues and information from  
the Maine Department of Education.  This is a one-way, informational  
listserv.  When you subscribe, your email will not be made public and  
providing your name is optional.

As we come to the end of the school year, I want to catch people  
before they begin summer break, knowing that some of you may have  
email changes.  While a few messages may be sent over the summer, the  
listserv will officially be up and running for the 2008-2009 school  
year.  You can expect no more than four messages each month.  My goal  
is to improve communication and to ensure that you receive timely and  
accurate information.

     Your feedback is needed to help design training and support for  
2008-2009

The Maine Department of Education would like to survey Social Studies  
Teachers to better understand their needs and provide support in  
implementing the 2007 Maine Learning Results: Parameters for Essential  
Instruction for Social Studies.  We ask that you complete this brief  
ten minute online survey to help target professional development and  
resources for the 2008-2009 school year.
