Airborne for Beyond!
~ The 2008 MLTI Summer Institute ~
Wednesday, July 23 – Friday, July 25
Maine Maritime Academy, Castine
Please visit http://www.maine.gov/mlti/events/summerinstitute/
index.htm or www.mainelearns.org for a link to online registration.
Leave your wingtips at home. Bring your most casual seasonal garb,
pack your bags and embark on what will be an excellent learning
adventure. Passports are not required for this excursion. Strap on
your best attitude and be prepared to gain some altitude.
The airship sails Wednesday, July 23 and lands on the afternoon on
Friday, July 25…TWO FULL DAYS OF GREAT CONTENT crammed into three!
Extended learning sessions designed to provide real, hands-on,
classroom-tested strategies for improving student involvement and
achievement by integrating technology and art in the core content
areas - better than alchemy!
The focus on home-grown heavy hitters continues with a keynote and
workshop presentations by Randy Judkins. He is a dazzling star in his
own right, plus he is a member of the Maine Hysterical Society – not
to be confused with the organization of a similar name that created
maninememory.net and the subject of presentations at the Institute as
well. You may be familiar with Randy’s world, renowned juggling
performances, his mind-bending leadership workshops, and his esteem-
building seminars. What you may not know is that Randy invented the
Internet!
Wait - that may be wrong. Randy is, in fact, the alter-ego of the
amazing Dr. Rhombus, the world’s foremost authority on “Mathmagics”
and Harley Horatio Hotshot, native of the streets of New York, or was
that New Gloucester, anyway Hotshot dazzles audiences with his “1000
cc, four-stroke, 2-cylinder monocycle with power brakes, air-
conditioning, overhead seat, and four wheel drive (minus three).”
Randy will be working with us entering as yet unexplored dimensions
of his skill set and ours! This is a chance to go way beyond boxes,
not just merely outside them!
Plus, if you’re driven to gain new skills sets and content knowledge
you’ll have more than twenty-five other great sessions in all the
core content areas from which to choose.
Can’t find a workshop that meets your needs? You can make up your own
at Inspiration Station! This is the place to jump off into creativity
galore, and pick up a cold drink and snack, with the help of trained,
experienced coach/mentors who are at your beckon call! Bring your
most puzzling, perplexing, teaching problems and together we can
solve them or at least give it the old “college try!” Bring along a
great idea, share it and you just might win an iPod or one of many
other great prizes.
