Studywiz Server Upgrade - Scheduled Downtime June 17-19, 2008

Dear MLTI Schools,

The Studywiz server system, which includes the MLTI Backup servers, will
be taken down for server software upgrades. The downtime will last from
June 17, 2008 to June 19, 2008. While the server may appear to be
available during this time frame, users should not attempt to perform a
backup to the system or login to Studywiz as the system will be rebooted
multiple times, and it will undergo several tests to ensure stability.
Therefore, services are not expected to be reliable or available during
this three day span.

Since the default home page for the Safari web browser is the Studywiz
login page, please alert all faculty and students that the page may not
load when they open a new web browser window. Simply choosing a bookmark
or entering another URL should allow the user to browse the Internet
without problems, but many users may conclude that there are general
Internet connectivity interruptions as a result of the failed page load
for http://studywiz.mlti.org <http://studywiz.mlti.org/> . The failure
to load this page is expected, and it should not be interpreted as an
Internet or network connectivity problem. Hopefully by warning all users
in advance, you can reduce or eliminate calls to your local technical
support personnel and/or the MLTI AppleCare Help Desk.

In addition, the MLTI Backup Utility will not function during this time
period. Please alert students and faculty that they should not attempt
to backup or restore data using the MLTI Backup Utility. Schools which
use the MLTI Backup Utility in a configuration which uses local servers
or externally connected hard drives or USB flash drive will be able to
continue to use the MLTI Backup Utility in that fashion.

All data and accounts in the MLTI Studywiz system will remain intact,
and all data will become available once the upgrades are complete.

Questions regarding this downtime may be directed to Jeff Mao,
jeff.mao at maine.gov.

Thank you for your flexibility,

MLTI Project Team
