Hello,
As you prepare for what we hope will be a relaxing summer, we are
preparing for the 2008-2009 PAAP year. We hope you will want to
contribute to our planning so that the PAAP training and process will
meet the needs of you and your students. We have prepared a brief
survey to get your feedback on 1) topics needing focus within PAAP
professional development presentations, 2) sources for PAAP information,
and 3) effective training formats. You can access the survey by
clicking here
<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=spkF5bRQUQ8_2b9_2bYPknHADA_3d_3d>
.
The Task Bank is now open and we have posted tasks for two Content
Standards/Performance Indicators. More Entries will be posted as they
are completed. All will be available to you by the end of August. The
User Name and Password for Task Bank access are the same as those you
used for 2007-2009. You will find some changes in the format of the
Task Bank: 1) the tasks are aligned to the 2007 Maine Learning Results,
so all are new, and 2) before you can see the tasks, you will need to
click on the grade span for the student who will do the tasks. If the
tasks for the grade span are not at a high enough level of complexity
for the student, you will need to review the decision to have the
student participate in the PAAP. A student working above expectations
for his or her grade span is a student "in the gap" between alternate
assessment and the general assessment, and must participate in the
appropriate general assessment with appropriate accommodations.
If you have questions about the changes in the Task Bank or other issues
related to the PAAP during the 2008-2009 school year, you will need to
direct them to Kimberly Schroeter or Peter Bernard here at the Maine
Department of Education. My retirement will begin on August 29. Kim
will become Alternate Assessment Coordinator at that time. I know you
will give Kim and Peter the same kind of support you have given me. My
thanks to you all for your commitment to this work over the years.
Linda
