We hope your subscription to this service will provide you with up-to-date information that, combined with the PAAP Manual, Rubrics, and Task Bank, will enable you and your students to make alternate assessment a true learning experience. Scoring of the 2007-08 PAAP was completed on May 7th, after nearly three weeks' work. Thanks to the approximately 70 Maine teachers who participated in scoring, the process took a day-and-a-half less than had been anticipated. Score reports will be posted on the Measured Progress secure website at the end of July, along with the MEA scores. Maine principals will be sent information on the posting, including the codes needed to access the scores. Portfolios will be returned to schools on September 12. Information pertaining to the 2008-09 PAAP process, which includes alignment to the 2007 Maine Learning Results, will be shared in subsequent messages. We hope you will check in to get the latest PAAP news throughout the summer. We also hope you find time to relax and enjoy your vacation! We, here at Measured Progress and the Maine Department of Education have been very busy the past few months, as I am sure you have been. As summer approaches, we are in need of dedicated educators like you who have been trained in the PAAP process, to help us by providing feedback on draft 2009 PAAP Science Tasks to ensure that the final products are of the highest quality. The knowledge and experience you have had with both the assessment and the types of students participating makes your comments invaluable. The feedback participants provide allows us to make informed decisions and raises the overall quality of the final Tasks. We hope you will consider volunteering to participate in the Task Review for Science. Reviewers are asked to provide feedback on 2-4 Levels of Complexity for 2-4 Tasks through a short online questionnaire. Science only has two Tasks per Level of Complexity, so completing the questionnaire should not take more than an hour of your time. The review period for the Science Tasks is expected to begin in mid-June and last through early August. All of the final Tasks resulting from your work will be posted and available to teachers at the start of the 08-09 school year. If you think you can volunteer some time to assist us in this critical development phase over the summer, please sign up by going online to http://www.maine.gov/education/lsalt/paap/updates/index.htm, complete the linked form, and fax it to me, Stephanie Arroyo, at 1-866-283-2197. Remember to include your home or other appropriate summertime mailing address. Measured Progress and the Maine Department of Education truly appreciate your commitment! There is no one like a Maine Educator! Thank you, Stephanie Arroyo Measured Progress -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
