Notification of PAAP Transition Year
This information is available on the PAAP website:
http://www.maine.gov/education/lsalt/paap/materialstools/index.htm
Maine NECAP reports released in January 2010 will contain student scores
for those students who either participated in the standard NECAP
administration during October 2009 or participated in alternate
assessment (Personalized Alternate Assessment Portfolio - PAAP) in
2008-09. However, due to Maine's switch from Maine Educational
Assessment (MEA) to NECAP testing in reading and mathematics for
2009-10, a unique situation exists during this transition year for some
students who have or will be participating in alternate assessment.
Although they may have participated in testing, partial or no pertinent
testing scores will be available for use in the 2009 NECAP reporting.
School principals should notify the Department of Education for a
student who meets applicable criteria by completing the Notification of
PAAP Transition Year Special Consideration Form, explaining why no
pertinent testing scores are available from last year, signing, and
returning the form to the Maine Dept. of Education (to access the form,
go online to:
http://www.maine.gov/education/lsalt/paap/materialstools/index.htm).
The deadline for receipt of the form is October 22, 2009. All
information will be treated as confidential.
Department of Education personnel will review the information provided
and send email confirmation of receipt. This confirmation will result in
the suppression of pertinent student-related assessment information for
the 2009 NECAP reports.
