[Provider] Clarification on Prior Authorizations as part of the Maine Behavioral Health Managed Care program

ATTENTION:  MaineCare providers planning to submit claims as part of the
behavioral health ASO (Administrative Services Organization)

 

This is an important clarification for the listserv message sent
yesterday, December 12.

 

As noted previously, for most services included in the Behavioral Health
ASO, MeCMS prior authorization numbers can only be submitted for billing
dates from 1/1/2008 and later.  This does not apply to 65 M&N services.

 

Providers may request authorization dates during the month of December
(as trained in the ASO provider training and noted in the ASO provider
manual).

 

It will be a billing issue if behavioral health ASO-related PA numbers
are submitted for service dates prior to 1/1/2008 (not including 65
M&N).  Claims submitted prior to January 1, with these PA numbers, will
suspend.
