ATTENTION: All MaineCare Providers That File Claims for
Physician Administered Drugs
In the Outpatient Setting
A January 31, 2008 memorandum to providers outlined a change in
reimbursement of certain physician administered drugs, effective April
1, 2008. The intent of this notice is to offer a reminder of this
change.
To comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
requirements pursuant to the Federal Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of
2005, the Office of MaineCare Services has changed its reimbursement of
certain physician administered drugs in the outpatient setting.
Beginning April 1, 2008, MaineCare will only approve claims for those
drugs administered in the outpatient setting that are rebateable per the
Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 (OBRA '90).
