In several cases we have found that a department using breathing air did
not know the quality of the air. All breathing air must be at least
class "D" or better. In order to ensure that the air you are receiving
for breathing apparatus meets this minimum, the standard 29CFR
1910.134(I)(4)(ii) calls for each department purchasing air to have a
copy of the current certificate from the supplier. This certificate
shall be available to a Maine BLS Inspector.
