[Solar-L] Global change and heads up for catalogers

Good morning,

Ulla at Thomas Memorial Library posted the following heads up on the Minerva 
Catalog listserf last week.  I ran a review file in Solar this morning and 
found we had 2400 or so imported records that needed the change.  I have 
used global update to fix them.  What the change from |3 to |z does is 
change what patrons see from connect to(web address) to a specific link that 
tells them the URL will take them to the table of contents.  If you import 
records from now on with an 856 field tor Table of contents, please try to 
remember to change |3Table of contents to|zTable of contents.  I'll run a 
review file every few months to catch any stragglers. See many of you on the 
12th for the Solar meeting.

Hello Cats,

Just a reminder to all of us to pay close attention to the 856 field.

Most imported records will have a |3 subfield at the beginning of the
field, e.g.:
856 4  |3Table of Contents|uhttp://www.loc.gov/catdir/toc/onix05/
95033694.html

Please change |3 to |z when importing new records, or when working on
existing records. so the link displays correctly.

This changes the OPAC display to Connect to (in this case "Table of
contents")
