[Solar-L] Mis-delivered ILLs via Velocity

Hello All Libraries:

Please, please, please - always, always, always print delivery labels
from the ILL directory on the MSL web site:
http://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/interlib/delivery.htm
<BLOCKED::http://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/interlib/delivery.htm> .  Do not
write labels by hand - avoid having your materials go astray.

The above link also will tell you who receives delivery service. If a
library does not appear in the directory listings, you CANNOT send
things to it via Velocity. I received an email from Velocity last week
about 38 items that were mistakenly sent through the delivery. 3 of
these were for libraries in Massachusetts and New Jersey!
The Governor Baxter School library does NOT receive delivery; Westbrook
High School does NOT receive delivery; most hospitals do NOT receive
deliveries (only Maine General and Eastern Maine Medical Center
libraries receive delivery).

On occasion, Velocity puts these mis-delivered items aside in a black
hole. I am working with them to give us timely notice when this happens
but we can do a much better job of being certain about who receives
delivery in the first place. I think Jesup Library in Bar Harbor
discovered today that another library had a Jesup book on its shelf.

Our ILL traffic is very heavy and we have an amazing statewide network
that many other states cannot match. Please be careful when sending out
materials.

Thanks for your efforts,

Dean
