Good afternoon, Joh Forest asked me to road-test the software following the server update. There are some important changes and I have listed them below. I strongly suggest that you save this message for future reference after reading it.
Regards,

PLEASE SAVE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

Using Millennium on the new server: You will notice several things are different in the new version. Once you get used to them, it will feel pretty familiar. I road-tested it and have tried to document the differences below. If you encounter any other oddities, please don’t hesitate to call me at 938-4702 or email me at berek at tds.net.

First, you may have to reinstall Millennium on any computers you currently use it on. To get it go to:
http://www.maine.gov/infonet/minerva/sysinfo/software/ The password and login can’t be given out on the list, but you can call or email and I’ll give them to you. NOTE: there is no need to remove the existing version and you will probably see a new download window for a java update.
After you log in, you’ll immediately notice that the menu on the left is different. Going down the screen, you’ll see
Circulation Desk
Check-in
Search Holds
Clear hold shelf
View holds
Renew
Notices
Fines Paid
Rapid Update
Create Lists
Statistics
Delete records and an icon that looks like a compass that says inn-reach (on my screen, I can’t see it very easily without pulling the window up a bit).

To get things done, you still print notices using Notices->Inn-Reach Paging Slips->Prepare Notices->Print.
You still add barcodes by going to Search Holds-finding the item, adding the barcode and saving it.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT:
Books received get checked in once under Circulation Desk after you enter your library card #. Books whose barcode isn’t recognized STILL need you to go to the inn-reach tab, right click on the book and insert the barcode before checking them out. **NEW** Some books may present you with 2 barcodes IE 32375001708914, 3237500170891498TML. Use the longer one and the system will be happy.

Use Check-in for returned books. Again, if presented with 2 barcode choices, use the longer one.

To check out a book to another library, use the Inn-Reach tab and select check-out. To get back to the main menu click on Up One Level.

I believe these are all the important things I’ve found.
