[SOLAR-L] [MINERVA-L] Anyone else having trouble cataloging on Z39.50?

It appears that C/W MARS is the one causing the problem. Indeed, their
main web page (http://www.cwmars.org/) is offline right now. Ellen
tells me that this is one of her favorite, best catalogs to search, so
rather than deleting them from the list I'd suggest avoiding using them
for the next day or two & hopefully they will come back online.

I just tried a few searches using Minerva, and had no problem. Last
time we had this problem, we figured out was one remote server in
particular that caused the problem. My trouble-free results included
Library of Congress, URSUS, MaineCat, U of CA Melvyl, OhioLINK, Michigan
State, and Marin Co. Those all worked fine. Penn State & Duke gave
status Disconnected but did not crash Millennium. I tried selecting all
remote sites and it did crash. Ellen Conway said she will do some more
testing, one by one, to see what causes the crash. If anyone else
figures it out, let me know.

I too am unable to search the remote databases. I get the same
message and need to restart the program each time.
