From Jon.Forest at maine.gov Tue Apr 8 10:13:27 2008 From: Jon.Forest at maine.gov (Forest, Jon) Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2008 10:13:27 -0400 Subject: [SOLAR-L] resignation Message-ID: <3233E4190E74E84CB8BB502705B83EFF032DF7AA@SOM-TEAQASMAIL1.som.w2k.state.me.us> Dear Maine InfoNet library staff, Please excuse the cross posting. Yesterday I gave notice that I am resigning my position with the Maine State Library. Friday, April 25 will be my last day. After that time, Deb Hensler will be he sole person responsible for supporting MaineCat, Minerva, and SOLAR. I will be working with Deb over the next two weeks to ease the transition as much as possible. My top priority will be working with the three new Minerva libraries to resolve outstanding issues and make sure they are as fully integrated into the system as possible. I will be moving to the Portland, Oregon area to work for the Library Information Network of Clackamas County. I have appreciated the opportunity to serve the libraries of Maine and work with the many wonderful people who serve Maine patrons. I created lists of correctly coded bib records (material type 1 or 3) and used rapid update to change item types to 6/106 9/109 to reflect owning libraries' current wishes. This will not fix any miscoded bib records (and there are plenty in the system) These changes are a precurser to being able to utilize the soon to be unleashed 7 day loan period for DVDs and music. I'll be on vacation next week, but that's Jon's last week with us :-( so he'll be here to work on problems, questions, etc. The following week I'll be in Washington, D.C. for the IUG Conference and then two days of training with Innovative. I'll be back to work on Tuesday, May 6. >From April 28 until I'm back on May 6, please understand that I won't be able to respond to any routine requests. I will of course be working and will have my cell phone with me (number below). Please call me that week if there are any system emergencies, such as inability to log into the system, inability to create records, or a system slowdown (check in the character-based side for system status). Call if there is a problem that prevents you from using Millennium. Jon will send out a reminder next week but I wanted to give everyone a heads up. From now until my position is filled, Deb will be in charge of the MaineCat, Minerva and SOLAR systems. Next week she will be attending the IUG conference, then further III training, and will return to work on Tuesday, May 6. If there is some significant problem with the system which prevents normal day to day functions, you can call her cell phone, 592-1825. Otherwise, continue to send normal support requests to info.support at msln.net (not Deb's personal address). If you have a question about how to do something, remember to check the manual first (using Index mode is the easiest way to find what you're looking for). If that doesn't help, try asking on Minerva-L. There are many people out there who are quite knowledgeable about various aspects of the system, and chances are someone knows how to do what you want to do. You will also likely get a response much quicker than just asking Deb. Thank you and good luck.
