[SOLAR-L] Cancelling MaineCat requests

I've just learned that many MaineCat libraries (especially in URSUS)
mail cancellation notices to their patrons if a request has been
cancelled by the owning library. Because of this, it's important to make
the reason for the cancellation something that a patron will understand.
Bangor Public printed a cancellation notice recently that just had three
letters on the notice -- neither they nor a patron could understand what
that meant.

Because SOLAR items still show as available in MaineCat when items are
checked out locally, please enter something like "Item currently checked
out" or "Item checked out locally, please request again next week" --
something that will make sense to anyone who reads it.

You can also enter things like "Item in repair" or "Item missing" or
anything that fits the situation that will make it clear why the request
is being cancelled.

Thanks,
Deb
