There will be a "Cataloging Graphic Novels" workshop following the January
25 Catalogers' Meeting. Anyone who is going to attend the meeting and is
interested in staying for that workshop may register at
http://evanced.info/maine/evanced/eventcalendar.asp. There will be a 45
minute break at the end the Catalogers' Meeting to allow time for those
planning to attend to go to lunch. The workshop will be about 2 hours
long and will include the following:

A brief history and definition
Characteristics of graphic novels
Searching techniques
Classification issues
Descriptive cataloging
Appropriate subject headings

This is not a hands-on workshop but it would be helpful if you would
bring examples of the titles you are having specific problems cataloging.

*Following is a schedule of other sessions of the "Cataloging Graphic
Novels" workshop for those who are not able to attend the Jan. 25th session:
*
Tuesday February 5 (snow date 2/12) in the Studio at the Maine State Library
from 9:30 -11:30. This is on the calendar now and you may register at any

registration opens.
