[erate-maine] E-Rate for PUBLIC LIBRARIES: T minus ten days!

Happy Monday from Augusta!

I'm very pleased to say that over 100 libraries completed the first step in E-rate for the upcoming funding year, and of those, half have completed the next step as well! For the other half, this is a reminder that the deadline for submitting your Form 471 (and accompanying Item 21 attachment) is only ten days away, March 14th.

Please be aware that the closer the deadline, the more the E-rate website is burdened, and the greater the chance of seeing server errors. Such errors have been known to cause hair loss, increase in blood pressure and the hurling of creative vulgarities and/or nearby small objects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult with a physician before attempting to complete a Form 471.

There are resources available to minimize the risks of these side effects. First, please use Internet Explorer or Safari whenever possible, as they are supported by the E-rate people. Second, have all the information you will need at hand, especially your PIN so you can certify your form online. Try to give yourself an hour of time relatively free of interruptions (try not to laugh at that one). And please utilize the tools below:
