Hi – I am posting this here as it may apply to your circ departments. My cataloger forwarded it to me as we do have several circ & ILL staff that have unscoped logins.

Subject: Unscoped Login Issue
Good Morning, Everyone,
I am contacting you regarding Sierra and unscoped logins that has recently come to my attention. It seems that when ILL checkins are processed using an unscoped login, the system fulfills the hold, but places it on the holdshelf. Library staff have been struggling to figure out where the items are and dealing with perturbed patrons.
This did not occur when we were in Millennium, because the first login specified which library you were working from. In Sierra, now that we no longer have that safeguard, the system needs to use the scope in order to process those holds successfully.
Please do not checkin ILL materials using your unscoped logins, but rather through the scoped login that the circ desk uses. Thank you for your attention to this issue as it has been causing a widespread problem for patrons and library staff.
